The Warmland Playhouse
Project has completed two
major steps:
- Confirming the need and feasibility of a performing arts venue in the
Cowichan Valley - Creating a comprehensive business plan detailing responsible
governance, community participation, and diversified funding

From Feasibility to a Plan

Chilliwack Cultural Centre
Rotary Studio Theatre
Building on the study, the WPP Working Group secured further BC Arts Council funding and developed a detailed Business Plan outlining how a community-focused performing arts venue can be created and sustained.
The proposed playhouse will include:
- a mid-sized main stage theatre for drama, music, and dance.
- a flexible black-box performance space.
- rehearsal and training studios.
- community meeting and workshop spaces.
These spaces will complement existing venues, relieve scheduling pressure on larger facilities, and give community performers a professional home of their own. Just as athletes have the purpose-built Sportsplex for their activities, artists will havea purpose-built Artsplex for theirs.

The Road Ahead
The Project is now entering its next phase:
building the organization and partnerships
needed to bring the Playhouse to life.
Next steps include:
- incorporating as a Community Service Cooperative.
- growing membership and community participation.
- building partnerships across the region.
- preparing the capital campaign.
